Some say over a million trees were planted that day in Nebraska - can you imagine how big those trees might be today, at over 100 years old? Begin your own contribution to a tree-filled world - plant one! Check with your local plant nursery to select the best tree for your region and location where you wish to plant it. You'll want to be sure it has plenty of room to grow, isn't planted too deep or too shallow, and gets enough water to help establish good healthy roots. ... Be sure not to pile mulch around the trunk!
Research your favorite tree and find out all about it Does it go by other names? What is its botanical (latin) name? Do certain species of insects and animals depend on it for survival? What does it look like in all four seasons? Does it flower? Does it face any threats that you can help mitigate or prevent? Where is the largest or oldest one found? Tell your friends how great trees are!
Call them up, send them a letter, post it on social media, share a story in your next yoga class, tell your mechanic, spread the word far and wide - trees are great!
