Chances are, you've seen Douglas around. Hanging out in the timberline, floating across your favorite lake on a tiny inflatable donut, dashboard surfing across the Million Dollar Highway, sneaking midnight ravioli's out of the hotel fridge in Moab. Let's face it - this possum isn't keen on playing dead. The adventures of Douglas are many, and we've crammed a few of them into a nifty little book that is perfect for your day pack or coffee bar. Here is one proud possum who is happy to present to you his first travel book, Douglas and Friends in the San Juans - Day 1.
The story behind the story When we travel and road trip, Douglas and his friends are typically along for the ride (especially Hedgie, who is capable of traveling just about anywhere). I naturally end up taking photos of them in amazing settings, places that often make you think, "Man, I wish I was that person's stuffed animal!" Looking back on hundreds of photos, I started to realize that all the pictures really set the scene for great stories. Stories that would be a fun read for an adult and would inspire any kid to get out and explore the world with their favorite toy. Stories based on real adventures, with creative additives and flair that could make any reader smile. Those are the base ingredients that I choose to work with - adventure, creativity, and happiness. "Day 1" is the first of 3 books in which Douglas and his friends explore the San Juan mountains of southwest Colorado, weaving through stunning landscapes both on foot and by four wheel drive. Is Day 2 on its way? Day 2 is near on the horizon, and should be ready for print in spring of 2021 - just in time to push your cabin fever over the edge and leave you scrambling for your car keys and your favorite pair of boots. How do I get my paws on the book? You have three simple options:
Can I read it without buying it? You sure can. Follow that same link above and click on "Preview" and it will allow you to read it page by page in its entirety - simply click the page on the right to turn forward, or the page on the left to turn back. While some may say this is a terrible idea, I never said Douglas was a good salesman. I said he was good at making people smile. Now, get reading and enjoy a little tale about your favorite adventure possum and his friends!
